Ableton Live and Reason
In the begining… well… I really wasnt a fan of Reason… mainly cause of its price tag. I saw no reason to shell out the cash when ableton could do everything reason could (if you know how to use ableton that is) and a whole heck of a lot more.
But in recent days (thanks to a friend who hooked me up with Reason for a stupid price), I have been experimenting with how the two programs interface. Rather than me ramble on about this, Ableton has a great article with some of the high points… feel free to check it out.

Great article. I actually discovered Reason before I found Live, so I was already using it. For me, nothing allows me to create better sounds. I use Live via the Rewire function to add vocals, guitars, etc. to Reason songs and record reason sounds for loops to use in Live during worship sets. They really do work well together. Reason 4 beta is coming out now and has some pretty new nifty features coming into play.

Same here. Been a Reason user since 1.0 and love it. The only complaint is that it doesn’t really allow for waveform manipulation. Then came Live, and all was well. Reason for the instruments, Live for the vocals…that’s it for me. But to be honest, I haven’t wrapped my head around all that Live is capable of.
On a side note…I’m looking for some good acapella tracks of popular praise music to experiment with. I’ve looked and looked and can’t find anything…except for some cheesy group recordings. Suggestions?
Thanks.
Nizzle,
for the vocal tracks… I havent seen anything worth mentioning that is at a decent price at least.
how about recording live tracks in ableton and then using the pitch shift function to create harmony tracks if you need. if your not the best at vocals you could find someone im sure to track for you. ableton has some cool vocal effects built in as well.
I run melodyne for all my vocal correction and simple harmony generation. Its a great program… i prefer it over autotune (and its way cheeper).
hope that helps.
